Massive love and respect to everyone that came and represented last Saturday for the Senseless Karnival Rave showdown. Amazing vibes, amazing variety of music and almost 2000 people passing though across the night. From Jerome Hill’s lazer guided acid through to the massive one mic MC session that lasted through Sarantis, DeVille and Daddy Nature’s sets the night was truly legendary, too many highlights to talk about here (But respect No Names, Balki, Beat3, Absnif, Flirta D, Ishu etc etc) Special mention to all the visual artists who passed through and decorated the place, some legends on the walls too.
Ghosttown ft Special Guest MCs (Senseless/Dented)
http://www.myspace.com/backwardbeeps
‘You Know’ ft Badness was Ghosttown’s first solo release, before that he was a beatmaker for Foreign Beggars, Frank and Dank, Dudley Perkins and a whole load of other world class MCs. Wonky hip hop meets bashment, funk and grime. 100% his own productions with special guests on the MIC.
Headcleaner LIVE (Terra/Rephlex)
http://www.myspace.com/daveheadcleaner
Analogue rave synth warrior bringing the alien frequencies from his bank of homemade 100% analogue equipment. You will not see another live show like this this year, or maybe ever. Headcleaner made his name with a release on Aphex Twin’s label, and recommendations don;t come much higher than that but since then he’s solidified it with a cutting edge approach to live performance and production and constant shows round the UK and beyond.
DeVille (Senseless)
Co-owner of the label DeVille is known for mixing up the full spectrum of UK bass with international influences from the Carribean, Africa and South America. Heavy bass meets rave in a karnival fashion.
Murlo (Angry Dance Party/Square Roots)
Murlo is a multitalented lover of all things tropical and has turned in two excellent remixes for Senseless this year. As a producer he mixes up a unique blend of soca, garage and bashy house that has the blogs on fire. His first release is due later in 2010 on a very exciting new label. Did we mention he’s also an incredible illustrator?
Beat3
soundcloud.com/beat3productions
Representing a UK take on the West Coast USA sound of glitch hop in less than a year Beat3 have played Secret Garden festival and Fabric with a string of releases forthcoming.
Sasquatch (Senseless)
Co-owner of the label, well known for his prolific production output and hi energy sets as raves across the UK and Europe. Mashes up everything from dubstep to soca to drum and bass like no one else.
Donky Pitch DJs (Donky Pitch, Brighton)
www.myspace.com/donkypitch
Our good friends from one of the UK’s best small nights. Responsible for founding Donky Pitch back at the start of 2009 the Donky Pitch DJs approach is one of simplicity, playing and championing exciting and fresh synth and bass music.
Pieface (Life4Land)
Part of the infamous free party crew Pieface is equally well known for his skills on the wheels as with a spraycan. He’ll be diggin deep in to his extensive collection for roots, dancehall, dub, jungle and more.
